LaTosha Maddox
Latosha Maddox, a Maryland based muralist, is an energetic artist with a passion for uplifting and revitalizing her community through art. Her use of bold, vibrant colors, and thoughtful symbolism, convey both the beauty and strength of women and innocence and wonder of children from various walks of life. Her goal is to create inclusive and empowering imagery for everyone to see the value in diversity and the importance of representation.
Her style is nuanced by a vast range of experiences, including her upbringing and her frequent domestic and international travels. Latosha was born in Frederick, MD where she began her art education at The Delaplaine Visual Arts Center and Academy of Arts. After graduating high school, she pursued an Early Childhood Education Degree with a minor in Fine Arts at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, LA.
Latosha specializes in indoor and outdoor murals, however she also offers an impressive array of art forms including but not limited to canvas paintings and customized portraits. Her artwork has been featured in NYC, Baltimore, Houston, Miami, New Orleans and St. Thomas VI. Additionally she has hosted several successful immersive events including pop up art shows and paint parties for various causes. Latosha’s murals on her own Baltimore home and on abandoned buildings throughout the city drew acclaim and media attention from local news outlets WBAL and WMAR.
She has worked with ‘ArtWithAHeart’ teaching art classes for Baltimore City Public Schools and the Center for Adults with Learning Disabilities. She was the Resident Artist for the Historical Druid Heights Community, working along with the community center to help revitalize the neighborhood and surrounding areas with her murals and community art events. Latosha hopes to continue to beautify & revitalize Baltimore through her artwork, her intention is to be a source of positive representation for the minority community.
